Community & Non-Profit Engagement

Founded by the visionary quilter Linda Hannawalt, San Francisco Quilt Shop has grown from a personal passion into a creative hub in the heart of Mazatlán, Sinaloa.

Fabric of Community: Weaving Together Support

At San Francisco Quilt Shop, we believe quilting is a powerful way to connect people, inspire creativity, and uplift those in need. Since our founding, we have prioritized partnerships with local non-profits and community organizations to bring quilting’s therapeutic and empowering qualities to women, families, and vulnerable groups throughout Mazatlán.

Quilting for a Cause: Stitching a Better Future

One of the cornerstones of our community outreach is our "Quilting for a Cause" initiative. In collaboration with various non-profit organizations, we use quilting as a medium to support social causes and make a meaningful difference.

We regularly organize volunteer-driven quilting sessions to produce quilts that are donated to local women’s shelters, children’s homes. These quilts provide comfort, warmth during the winter months, and a personal touch for those in challenging circumstances.

We create custom quilts that are auctioned off at local fundraising events, with proceeds going toward education, healthcare, and essential services for families in need. These unique, handcrafted pieces have raised significant funds, and we’re proud to continue contributing to causes that matter.

A Creative Hub for Collaboration

San Francisco Quilt Shop is more than just a retail space—it’s a community hub where people from all walks of life can come together to collaborate and create. Whether it's through our open sewing days, group quilting projects, or community quilting events, we strive to create a welcoming environment where creativity and social responsibility intersect.

Get Involved & Make a Difference

We invite everyone in the Mazatlán community—and beyond—to join us in these efforts. Whether you’re an experienced quilter or new to the craft, there are many ways to contribute from volunteering your time and skills to donating materials for upcoming projects. By working together, we can ensure that our quilting for a cause initiatives continue to benefit those in need and strengthen our community’s fabric—one stitch at a time.
